BLOCKING
For a clean final look with even stitches, blocking your piece is recommended before seaming the two panels together. For acrylic fibers, steam blocking is recommended. For natural fibers (cotton, wool, etc.) wet blocking is recommended.
SEAMING THE PANELS TOGETHER
Line up one long edge of the side panel with the back panel. Sew or single crochet both panels together (~86 stitches)
Repeat this process with the other long edge of the side panel and the front panel.
There should be an opening that is approximately 3 inches wide at the top of your pouch. DC in each stitch around this opening.
ADDING A LINING (optional)
Using your lining fabric, cut two circles that are approximately 8 inches in diameter.
With the right sides facing together, sew the two panels together, leaving an opening that is approximately 3 inches across.
Line up the opening of the lining pouch with the opening of your bag, and sew them together using your preferred stitch.
ATTACHING THE BELT LOOPS
Attach one end of the belt loop to the back panel of the pouch so that the belt loop runs perpendicular to the pouch opening.
Attach a .5 inch button to the same end of the belt loop that is attached to the pouch.
Repeat this process for the other belt loop, placing it approximately 3 inches apart from the first belt loop.
ATTACHING THE DRAWSTRING
Thread the drawstring through every other double crochet along the opening of the pouch.
Thread both ends of the drawstring through a large bead. This bead will act as the closure mechanism to tighten the drawstring and close your pouch.
Now that you're all done, go forth and enjoy your next Ren Faire! And be sure to invite me!
